I thought about not posting about the thobe I’m making at all on my grid for that reason… but I want to share how much I love this thobe making class by @thethobeproject. Samia is a person whose presence is like a living library. Her next thobe making cohort starts in July. 🧵 . . [details for makers] our hands testify to how we used them. Our callouses build in the same ways as for those who practiced our crafts in generations gone by. We’ll never fully understand their lives, but we can get closer by picking up our needles. They allowed light into our home in the most beautiful way. This series is a rumination on missed connections, tattered objects, and my love for all that’s worn down by our lives. Other materials included are scraps from my quilting practice, leftover and reclaimed threads, and an old pillowcase (the framing fabric). I’m grateful that you crossed paths with my work and hope the right path is created in giving these pieces homes. Piece measures 5” x 5” and is stretched over a canvas.
