I love the things that I make. But I’m in love with the process of making. Even on the sad days, if I can get a single moment of creating in, I’ll feel the benefits many times over. 🧵 . . [details for makers] our old clothing cut apart into 1” squares, sewn together into a Kufic script reading “Allah”. A word we said again and again in prayer while wearing the clothing. All of these pieces are greenware (haven’t been through the kiln) that have been in my garage all winter long. I have doubts about their viability, so I’m reclaiming the clay by submerging them in water. I look through old photos and videos of my kids and they’re always wearing something I either made or mended - or both! I don’t make or mend as much of their clothing as I used to, but I remember the version of me who did that work. Whatever I’m making or mending, the over-the-top sentimentality seeps through.
