This year, I’m pushing myself to delve deeper into intricate lace patterns, combining them with porcelain, and finding forms that bring me joy in both the process and the outcome.
These works were created using cotton yarn (always harvested from the cotton yarn already in my life - old sweaters, leftovers, etc, etc). I knitted that yarn into forms, which were then coated in porcelain slip. In the first firing, the kiln burns away the yarn leaving only porcelain. But in a form that could never exist if the yarn hadn’t been there. These pieces are all unglazed, but still high-fired.
